Key takeaways
- On mobile, the dependable way to clean up a Solana wallet is to open the site inside the wallet app's own browser; Phantom says connecting on mobile only works in its in-app browser, not Safari or Chrome.
- SOLTidy connects through Reown AppKit: tapping Phantom or Solflare in its connect dialog from a phone browser reopens the same page inside that wallet's in-app browser, and Backpack and other wallets use WalletConnect.
- SOLTidy shows one wallet prompt per transaction, closing up to 12 token accounts in each, so a wallet with 60 empty accounts needs about 5 approvals.
- A Solana transaction expires about 150 blocks after its blockhash, roughly 40 seconds to a minute, and SOLTidy fetches that blockhash just before each prompt, so leaving the approval screen open too long makes it fail harmlessly.
- As of November 2026, SOLTidy does not register Solana Mobile Wallet Adapter, so on a Seeker you connect through Phantom's or Solflare's in-app browser rather than directly from Seed Vault Wallet.
The short answer
To clean up a Solana wallet on a phone, open the cleanup site inside your wallet app's built-in browser: the Explore or search bar in Phantom, the Explore tab in Solflare, or the browser in Backpack. Connect, run the free read-only scan, then approve one prompt per transaction; SOLTidy closes up to 12 empty token accounts in each, and each one returns 0.00148844 to 0.00203928 SOL of rent. On a Seeker, do the same inside Phantom or Solflare, because as of November 2026 SOLTidy does not connect directly to Seed Vault Wallet.
Why is cleaning up a wallet on mobile different from desktop?
It is different because a phone has no browser extension: the website and the wallet are two separate apps, and something has to connect them. On a desktop, Phantom or Solflare injects itself into every tab through the Wallet Standard, so any site can ask it to sign. On a phone there are three ways to bridge that gap:
| Method | How it works | Where it works |
|---|---|---|
| Wallet in-app browser | The wallet app contains a browser and injects itself into the page, like an extension | iOS and Android, every major Solana wallet |
| WalletConnect | The site and wallet talk through a relay; the wallet app opens for each request | iOS and Android, wallets that support it |
| Mobile Wallet Adapter (MWA) | The site sends an Android intent to a wallet app on the same device | Android native apps and Chrome for Android only |
The in-app browser is the method every wallet supports and the one with the fewest moving parts, so it is what I recommend for a cleanup. Phantom's help center is blunt about it: "On mobile, connecting only works inside Phantom's in-app browser. You can't connect from Safari, Chrome, or other mobile browsers."
The cleanup itself is the same as on desktop. What each wallet's own menus can and cannot do is covered in the guides for cleaning up a Phantom wallet, cleaning up a Solflare wallet and cleaning up a Backpack wallet. This post is about getting a cleanup tool working on the phone.
How does SOLTidy connect on a phone?
SOLTidy connects through Reown AppKit (formerly WalletConnect's Web3Modal), which handles each wallet differently on mobile. I checked what the version SOLTidy ships, AppKit 1.8.24, actually does:
- Inside a wallet's in-app browser, the wallet is detected through the Wallet Standard, the same way an extension is on desktop. This is the direct path.
- Phantom from Safari or Chrome. Phantom does not support WalletConnect, so AppKit sends you to Phantom's browse link (
phantom.app/ul/browse/...) on iOS, or an Android intent for theapp.phantompackage. The current page reopens inside Phantom's in-app browser. - Solflare from Safari or Chrome. AppKit uses Solflare's browse deeplink (
solflare.com/ul/v1/browse/...), which also reopens the page inside Solflare. - Backpack and other wallets connect through WalletConnect. Backpack's entry in the WalletConnect registry lists Solana mainnet and a
backpack://link, so the session stays in your phone browser and Backpack opens for each signature.
SOLTidy turns off AppKit's email and social login wallets, so only real wallet apps appear. It does not register Mobile Wallet Adapter, which matters on Android and on Seeker; more on that below.
Wallet app: how to open SOLTidy on mobile
This table is the short version for each wallet, as of November 2026:
| Wallet app | Best way to open soltidy.com | Connection used | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Phantom (iOS) | Search bar in Phantom, paste soltidy.com | In-app browser | Starting in Safari and choosing Phantom reopens the page in Phantom |
| Phantom (Android) | Search bar in Phantom, paste soltidy.com | In-app browser | From Chrome, SOLTidy opens Phantom with an Android intent |
| Solflare (iOS and Android) | Explore tab, enter the address | In-app browser | Choosing Solflare in a phone browser reopens the page in Solflare |
| Backpack (iOS and Android) | Backpack's built-in browser, or Connect in your phone browser | In-app browser or WalletConnect | WalletConnect means switching to Backpack for every prompt |
| Seeker with Seed Vault Wallet | Install Phantom or Solflare and use its browser | In-app browser | Seed Vault Wallet connects over MWA, which SOLTidy does not register |
| Other WalletConnect wallets | Connect in Safari or Chrome, pick the wallet | WalletConnect | Works if the wallet supports Solana signing over WalletConnect |
How do you clean up a Solana wallet in Phantom on your phone?
Open SOLTidy inside Phantom's browser, scan, then approve each transaction. Step by step:
- Open Phantom and tap the search bar at the bottom of the screen.
- Type or paste
soltidy.comand open it. The page now runs inside Phantom's in-app browser. - Tap Connect, choose Phantom, review the request and tap Connect.
- Let the scan run. It reads your token accounts, NFTs, stake accounts, pump.fun rewards and token approvals, and signs nothing.
- Review what each source is worth after fees. Safe items like empty token accounts are pre-selected; NFTs and dust are left for you to pick one by one.
- Start the cleanup and approve each Phantom prompt as it appears.
If you started in Safari or Chrome and Phantom sends you to the App Store, the page tried to hand off to an app it could not find. Phantom's troubleshooting article gives the fix: copy the URL, open Phantom and paste it into the search bar.
How do you do it in Solflare or Backpack on mobile?
In Solflare, use the Explore tab; in Backpack, use its built-in browser or WalletConnect.
Solflare. Solflare's mobile app has an Explore tab in the bottom navigation that opens dApps in its built-in browser, according to Solflare's dApp guide and its help article on connecting to dApps on mobile.
- Open Solflare and tap Explore.
- Enter
soltidy.comin the address bar. - Tap Connect, choose Solflare and confirm.
- Scan, choose what to clean and approve each transaction.
Backpack. Backpack's mobile app can open sites in its own browser, which works like Phantom's. If you would rather stay in Safari or Chrome, tap Connect, choose Backpack, approve the WalletConnect session in the Backpack app and switch back. Every transaction then repeats that trip: the site sends the request, Backpack opens, you approve, you return. It works, but for a cleanup with several transactions the in-app browser is less fiddly. Backpack's help center did not have a mobile dApp article I could check, so I am describing what SOLTidy's connector does rather than quoting Backpack.
Can you clean up a wallet on the Solana Seeker?
Yes, but through Phantom or Solflare rather than Seed Vault Wallet, as of November 2026. Seeker is Solana Mobile's Android phone. Its built-in wallet, Seed Vault Wallet, is operated by Solflare and keeps keys in Seed Vault, which Solana Mobile's docs describe as a system service that keeps keys inside the device's secure execution environment and signs on behalf of wallet apps.
Seed Vault Wallet connects to dApps over Mobile Wallet Adapter. MWA is a Solana Mobile protocol in which a site or app sends an Android intent to a wallet on the same device and the wallet shows a bottom sheet to approve. Two facts limit it:
- MWA works only on Android. The MWA docs list Android apps as fully supported, Chrome for Android as supported, and iOS as not supported "due to platform restrictions on inter-app communication". The mobile web page adds that other Android browsers such as Brave may have issues.
- A website has to opt in. A site built on
@solana/wallet-adaptergets MWA automatically. SOLTidy uses Reown AppKit instead, which does not add it, and I have not registered it separately. I also could not find Seed Vault Wallet in the WalletConnect registry. So when you open soltidy.com in Chrome on a Seeker, Seed Vault Wallet is not one of the choices.
The workable route on a Seeker:
- Install Phantom or Solflare from Google Play or the Solana dApp Store.
- Use the wallet you want to clean up in that app. A wallet already in Phantom or Solflare needs nothing extra. For a seed that lives in Seed Vault, Solflare documents linking a Seed Vault seed into the Solflare app on Solana phones; that article was written for Saga, so the menus on Seeker may differ.
- Open soltidy.com in that app's browser and follow the Phantom or Solflare steps above.
Do not type your Seed Vault seed phrase into another wallet just to use a website. That copies the key out of the secure hardware Seed Vault exists to provide. If linking through Solflare is not available to you, it is better to wait for MWA support than to weaken the wallet.
What goes wrong when signing on a phone?
Most mobile failures come from time and app switching, not from the transactions themselves. These are the ones I see:
The transaction expires. Every Solana transaction includes a recent blockhash that is valid for about 150 blocks, roughly 40 seconds to a minute. SOLTidy fetches the blockhash immediately before it asks your wallet to sign, so the clock starts when the prompt appears. If you leave the approval screen open, take a phone call or let the screen lock, the wallet may still sign but the network rejects it, and SOLTidy shows "Transaction expired before it was confirmed. Please try again." Nothing ran and no fee was charged. More detail is in why Solana transactions fail.
You switch apps mid-run. With WalletConnect, each prompt means leaving the browser for the wallet. Phone operating systems can pause or reload a page in the background, especially on iOS, so the page may lose track of a transaction you approved. The in-app browser avoids this because the page and wallet are the same app.
The screen locks. A multi-transaction cleanup waits for each confirmation before it moves on. Keep the screen on and the app in front until the progress counter finishes. If your phone locks after 30 seconds, extend auto-lock for a few minutes.
You stop halfway. That is safe. SOLTidy sends transactions one after another. For account closes, NFT burns, stake withdrawals and revokes it stops at the first rejection or failure; dust sales skip a token that fails and carry on. Everything that already confirmed stays done, so rescan and run again for what is left.
How many approvals does a mobile cleanup take?
One approval per transaction, because SOLTidy has batch signing turned off. Approving several transactions in a single signAllTransactions prompt would mean fewer taps, but Phantom flagged the site when it was on, so every wallet gets one prompt per transaction. In practice:
| What you clean | Items per transaction | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Empty token accounts, spare rent, pump.fun accounts | Up to 12 | 60 empty accounts: about 5 approvals |
| Dust sold for SOL through Jupiter | 1 token | 8 dust tokens: 8 approvals |
| Spam NFTs burned | Packed to fit | Shown before you start |
Before your wallet opens, the closer skips anything that changed since the scan, and each dust swap is simulated so a failing route shows on its row instead of in your wallet. Fees are taken inside the same transactions: 5% of the SOL recovered from token accounts, NFT burns and dust sales, and nothing for the scan.
Which SOLTidy tool should you use on mobile?
Use the all-in-one wallet cleanup if you want everything from one scan; use a single tool if you have one job. All of them work the same way in a wallet's browser:
- Token Account Closer: closes empty SPL and Token-2022 accounts and withdraws spare rent from tokens you keep. This is where most recovered SOL comes from. If some accounts refuse to close, see why a Solana token account will not close.
- NFT Burner: burns spam and unwanted NFTs and returns the rent in their accounts. Read what to do with spam NFTs first; tapping links in a spam NFT's description is the real risk, not the NFT itself.
- Sell Dust for SOL: swaps small balances to SOL through Jupiter and closes the empty account in the same transaction.
If you only have two or three empty accounts, Solflare's menu can close a zero-balance account for network fees only, which is a fine choice on a phone. A bulk tool pays off when you have dozens.
Bottom line
On a phone, open the cleanup site inside your wallet app's own browser: Phantom's search bar, Solflare's Explore tab or Backpack's browser. Then scan, choose what to clean and approve one prompt per transaction, quickly, with the screen on, because each transaction expires about a minute after it is built. Starting in Safari or Chrome works for Phantom and Solflare too, since SOLTidy reopens the page inside the wallet, and Backpack can use WalletConnect at the cost of switching apps. On a Seeker, use Phantom or Solflare until SOLTidy supports Mobile Wallet Adapter. Start with the free wallet cleanup scan to see what your wallet holds before you sign anything.
Questions & answers
Can I clean up my Solana wallet from Safari or Chrome on my phone?
Not directly with Phantom: its help center says mobile connections only work inside Phantom's in-app browser. On SOLTidy you can start in Safari or Chrome, tap Connect and pick Phantom or Solflare, and the page reopens inside that wallet's browser. Wallets that support WalletConnect, such as Backpack, can connect from the normal browser, but you switch apps for every signature. The in-app browser is the smoother route.
Why does my phone open the App Store when I tap Connect?
It means the page tried to hand off to a wallet app from a regular mobile browser and the wallet is not installed, or the link was not caught by the app. Phantom's help center gives the fix: copy the site's URL, open Phantom, search for or paste the URL, and connect from inside Phantom's in-app browser. The same approach works in Solflare's Explore tab.
Does SOLTidy work on the Solana Seeker phone?
Yes, through a wallet app's browser. Seeker is an Android phone, so you can install Phantom or Solflare and open soltidy.com inside its in-app browser. As of November 2026 SOLTidy does not register Solana Mobile Wallet Adapter, which is how Seed Vault Wallet connects to dApps, so Seed Vault Wallet is not offered in SOLTidy's connect dialog. Solflare documents linking a Seed Vault seed into its own app on Solana phones.
Why did my transaction expire while I was approving it on my phone?
A Solana transaction carries a recent blockhash that is valid for about 150 blocks, roughly 40 seconds to a minute. SOLTidy fetches it right before asking your wallet to sign, so if the approval screen sits open while you read, switch apps or the screen locks, the transaction can expire. Nothing happens on chain and no fee is charged. Run the cleanup again; anything that already confirmed stays done.
How many times will I have to approve on mobile?
One approval per transaction. SOLTidy packs up to 12 token account closes into each transaction, so 30 empty accounts need 3 approvals. Dust sales are one token per transaction because a Jupiter swap fills most of a transaction. Approving several transactions in one prompt is switched off because Phantom warned on it.
