Key takeaways
- Raydium's Burn & Earn locks CPMM LP tokens or a CLMM position permanently, and Raydium's docs state that the locked liquidity can never be withdrawn.
- A Burn & Earn lock mints a fee-key NFT, and whoever holds that NFT can keep claiming the locked liquidity's trading fees.
- Burn & Earn does not accept Raydium AMM v4 LP, so legacy AMM v4 liquidity can only be made permanent by burning the LP tokens.
- Burning LP tokens and locking them with Burn & Earn are both permanent; the difference is that burning gives up the trading fees and locking keeps them.
- SOLTidy's Raydium LP Locker charges 0.02 SOL per lock and per claim transaction as of November 2026, plus about 0.018 SOL of rent for the fee-key NFT and lock record.
The short answer
To lock liquidity on Raydium, use Burn & Earn, Raydium's own LP locker for CPMM pools and CLMM positions. Your LP tokens (or position NFT) move into Raydium's lock program for good, and you receive a fee-key NFT that keeps claiming the trading fees. Raydium's Burn & Earn docs are blunt about it: "The liquidity can never be withdrawn." AMM v4 LP is not supported; burn it instead.
You can lock on Raydium's site or with SOLTidy's Raydium LP Locker, which I built. Both call the same lock program.
What does locking liquidity protect against?
It rules out one specific rug pull: the creator withdrawing the pool. Whoever holds a pool's LP tokens can redeem them for their share of the reserves at any moment, and at launch the creator usually holds nearly all of them. Locking or burning the LP takes that option away. Buyers and rug checkers look for it first, and an unlocked pool is one of the main signs in how to spot a Solana rug pull.
It does nothing about supply the team still holds, an active mint authority, or a freeze authority. A locked pool next to a wallet holding 40% of supply is still risky.
How does Raydium Burn & Earn work?
Burn & Earn is a program, LockrWmn6K5twhz3y9w1dQERbmgSaRkfnTeTKbpofwE per Raydium's program addresses, that takes custody of LP permanently and hands back a fee claim:
- You lock. CPMM LP tokens, or a whole CLMM position NFT, move to an account the lock program owns. No expiry, no admin key.
- You receive a fee-key NFT. Raydium's docs: whoever owns it "owns the fee stream", and "Losing the Fee Key NFT is losing the fees forever."
- Fees keep accruing. On CPMM, fees stay in the pool's reserves and raise each LP token's value; a claim releases only the LP that fees added since the last claim and withdraws it into the pool's two tokens. On CLMM, a claim collects the position's fees and any rewards, while its liquidity stays put.
- The principal never moves. Nobody, including you or Raydium, can withdraw the locked part.
Raydium recommends full-range positions if you lock CLMM liquidity, warning that "CLMM tight ranges are a trap": once the price leaves a narrow range, the locked position stops earning and can never be moved.
Lock or burn: which should you choose?
Both make the liquidity permanent. The difference is what happens to the fees and what you can lock.
| Burn & Earn lock | Burn LP tokens | Time lock (e.g. Jupiter Lock) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Liquidity withdrawable | Never | Never | After the unlock date |
| Trading fees | Claimable with the fee-key NFT | Given up | Paid when you withdraw |
| Works for | CPMM LP, CLMM positions | Any fungible LP: CPMM, AMM v4 | Fungible LP tokens |
| How buyers verify | LP held by Raydium's lock program | LP supply drops, Burn instruction | Escrow's unlock date and cancel rights |
| SOLTidy cost | 0.02 SOL + about 0.018 SOL rent | 0.045 SOL per burn | 0.27 SOL per run |
My view: on a CPMM pool, lock rather than burn. It is equally final and keeps the fee income, which on an active pool adds up. Burn when the pool is AMM v4, or when you want the single most familiar signal, a near-zero LP supply. Burned vs locked liquidity goes through how buyers read each, and how to burn LP tokens on Raydium covers the burn path with Burn LP Tokens.
A time lock is a different promise: the creator gets the LP back on a date. Some teams use one when they plan to migrate liquidity later. Buyers then need the date and the cancel rights, which a Jupiter Lock escrow exposes publicly; SOLTidy's free Token Lock Viewer shows any Jupiter Lock escrow on a mint. Burn & Earn locks are not Jupiter Lock escrows, so they do not appear there; check them on an explorer or Raydium.
How do you lock Raydium LP, step by step?
With SOLTidy's Raydium LP Locker:
- Connect the wallet that holds the LP. Normally the wallet that created the pool. The page lists your CPMM LP and CLMM positions with their value, plus any fee-key NFTs you already hold.
- Pick the position. For CPMM, choose 25%, 50%, 75%, all or a custom share; the rest stays withdrawable. A CLMM position locks whole.
- Confirm it is permanent. There is no undo.
- Sign one transaction. It moves the LP or position NFT into Raydium's lock program and mints the fee-key NFT to your wallet. Locking a whole CPMM position also closes the empty LP account and refunds about 0.002 SOL.
- Publish the transaction. Post the explorer link with your launch so buyers can verify it.
If you are creating the pool now, SOLTidy's Create Raydium Pool can lock the LP right after creation; the lock goes out as a second transaction. How to create a Raydium liquidity pool covers the whole launch.
How do you claim fees from locked liquidity?
Open the same locker page with the wallet that holds the fee-key NFT. Each NFT shows the fees earned since the last claim, read from the same on-chain figures Raydium uses. Claim one or all; they arrive as the pool's two tokens, with wrapped SOL unwrapped. A claim transaction usually fits one locked position, so several positions take one approval each, at 0.02 SOL per transaction on SOLTidy. Raydium's docs do not state a claim fee of their own.
Keep the fee-key NFT in a wallet you control and back up. If you sell or send it, the buyer gets the fees; the liquidity stays locked either way.
What can't Burn & Earn do?
- AMM v4 LP. Raydium's docs list it as "Not supported". Burn it, or withdraw and move the liquidity to a CPMM pool you can lock.
- Unlock later. If there is any chance you need the SOL back, a permanent lock is the wrong choice.
- Cover others' liquidity. A lock covers the LP you lock. Liquidity added later by other providers stays theirs.
- Fix the token. Revoke mint and freeze authority separately; buyers check those as closely as the pool.
Bottom line
Raydium's Burn & Earn is the standard Solana LP locker for CPMM and CLMM liquidity in November 2026: permanent like a burn, with a fee-key NFT that keeps the trading fees. Lock CPMM LP when you want buyers to trust the pool and still earn from it; burn when the pool is AMM v4. Publish the transaction either way.
Questions & answers
Is Raydium Burn & Earn permanent?
Yes. Raydium's documentation describes it as a way to permanently lock a CPMM or CLMM position and says the liquidity can never be withdrawn. There is no unlock date or unlock instruction. Only the trading fees the locked liquidity earns can be claimed, by whoever holds the fee-key NFT.
What is the fee-key NFT?
It is the NFT Raydium's lock program mints to your wallet when you lock. It carries the right to claim the locked position's trading fees, and Raydium's docs say whoever owns it owns the fee stream. It can be sent or sold like any NFT, which moves the fees, never the liquidity. Losing it means losing the fees for good.
Should I lock or burn my Raydium LP?
On CPMM, locking with Burn & Earn is usually the better deal: it is just as permanent as a burn, and you keep the trading fees. Burning is simpler to verify from the LP mint's supply and is the only option for AMM v4 LP. Either way, the paired SOL is gone from your point of view.
Can I lock only part of my LP?
For CPMM LP, yes. You can lock any share and keep the rest as ordinary, withdrawable LP; each lock gets its own fee-key NFT. A CLMM position is one NFT and locks whole, so withdraw part of it first if you want to lock less.
How do buyers check that Raydium liquidity is locked?
They look at where the LP sits. For a Burn & Earn lock, the LP tokens or position NFT are held by Raydium's lock program, LockrWmn6K5twhz3y9w1dQERbmgSaRkfnTeTKbpofwE, and the lock transaction shows it. Rug checkers and Raydium's own interface read this. Publish the lock transaction so buyers can see it themselves.
How much does it cost to lock liquidity on Raydium?
Raydium does not state a lock fee in its Burn & Earn docs; you pay rent for the fee-key NFT, its metadata and the lock record, about 0.018 SOL. Using SOLTidy's Raydium LP Locker adds 0.02 SOL per lock and 0.02 SOL per fee-claim transaction.
