Why token locks matter
When a team holds a large share of a token's supply, buyers worry that it will be sold on them. A public lock answers that with code instead of promises: the tokens sit in an escrow that no one can open before the unlock date. That is why rug checks, screeners and holder dashboards look for locked supply and treat tokens held by a lock program differently from tokens in a team wallet.
A lock is only as strong as its settings. A lock that its creator can cancel can be emptied whenever the creator decides, so careful buyers check who holds the cancel right. This tool creates non-cancelable, non-transferable locks by default, which is what most checkers want to see, and shows each escrow's rights in the lock viewer.
Locking supply works best together with the other launch signals: a fixed supply with the mint authority revoked, no freeze authority, and pool liquidity that is burned or locked. You can see how a token scores on all of them with the rug check.
How Jupiter Lock works
Jupiter Lock is an open-source Solana program (LocpQgucEQHbqNABEYvBvwoxCPsSbG91A1QaQhQQqjn), audited by OtterSec and Sec3 in 2024 and also used by Meteora for its launch vesting. Each lock is a vesting escrow: a program-derived account that records the recipient, the token, the schedule and the rights, plus a token account owned by that escrow that holds the tokens. No private key controls the escrow; only the program's rules can move its tokens.
A single-date lock is a schedule with one cliff: before the cliff time nothing can be claimed, and from that second on the whole amount can be. The recipient claims with one free transaction, here or in any app that supports Jupiter Lock. Tokens never unlock on their own; they wait in the escrow until the recipient claims them.
Two rights are set once, when the escrow is created, and can never be changed: who may cancel it (nobody, or you), and who may change its recipient (nobody, you, the recipient, or either). Cancelling sends what has already unlocked to the recipient and returns the rest to the creator. SOLTidy never holds any right over your escrows.
| Setting | Default here | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Cancelable by you | Off | On lets you take back the locked part early; checkers treat that as a weaker lock |
| Transferable by the recipient | Off | On lets the recipient move the escrow to another wallet |
| Recipient changeable by you | Off | On lets you redirect the escrow to a different wallet |
| Label | Empty | A public name such as "Team tokens", stored on chain with the escrow |
What it costs
SOLTidy charges 0.27 SOL per run, paid in the first transaction, whether you lock for one wallet or two hundred. If a run stops partway and you continue it, the fee isn't charged again. Claiming a lock is free.
Each escrow also needs rent for two accounts: the escrow itself and its token account, about 0.0036 SOL together at today's rent, plus about 0.001 SOL if you add a label. Token-2022 tokens with extensions need a slightly larger token account. Network fees are tiny; two escrows fit in each transaction.
Example: locking 50,000,000 tokens for yourself with a label costs about 0.27 + 0.0036 + 0.001 = 0.275 SOL. Locking team tokens for 10 wallets costs about 0.27 + 10 × 0.0036 = 0.306 SOL in 5 wallet approvals. If the token has a Token-2022 transfer fee, the token charges it on the way into the escrow (you pay it) and again when the recipient claims.
Questions & answers
Can I get my tokens back before the unlock date?
Only if you turned on "Cancelable by you" when you created the lock. Without it, nobody can release the tokens early, not you, not the recipient and not SOLTidy. That is the point of a lock, and it's what buyers check.
Does it work with Token-2022 tokens?
Yes. Jupiter Lock supports SPL and Token-2022 tokens, including transfer fees and transfer hooks. Its code doesn't list some extensions, such as non-transferable or interest-bearing, so the tool simulates the lock before you sign and tells you if the program refuses the token.
How do people verify my lock?
Every escrow is a public account of the Jupiter Lock program. Paste your token's mint into the lock viewer to see every lock on it, how much is still in escrow, the unlock dates and who can cancel, and share that page's link. Solscan shows the same accounts.
How does the recipient claim?
After the unlock date the recipient opens the lock viewer, connects the wallet the lock pays out to, and presses Claim. It's one transaction, with no SOLTidy fee. Nothing is sent automatically, so the tokens wait in the escrow until claimed.
What does the 0.27 SOL fee cover?
One run of the tool: every escrow you create in it, for one wallet or up to 200. It's paid in the first transaction. Escrow rent (about 0.0036 SOL each) and network fees are separate and go to the Solana network, not SOLTidy.
