What Raydium's Burn & Earn lock does
Burn & Earn is Raydium's liquidity lock for CPMM pools and CLMM positions, run by its lock program (LockrWmn6K5twhz3y9w1dQERbmgSaRkfnTeTKbpofwE). Locking transfers your CPMM LP tokens, or your CLMM position NFT, to an account owned by the program for good. There is no unlock date and no admin key: nobody, including you and Raydium, can withdraw the locked principal.
In return the program mints a fee-key NFT to your wallet. CPMM trading fees stay inside the pool's reserves, so each LP token's share grows as people trade; when you claim, the lock releases only the LP that fees added since the last claim and withdraws it into the pool's two tokens. A CLMM position earns fees separately from its liquidity, so a claim collects those fees (and any farm rewards) while the liquidity stays in place. Either way the locked principal never moves.
Lock vs. burn: which one to use
Both make the liquidity permanent, and both read as "liquidity locked" to buyers and checkers. The difference is the fees. Burned LP tokens are destroyed along with their share of future fees. A Burn & Earn lock keeps that share earning, and the fee-key NFT can claim it forever.
The fee-key NFT is a normal NFT. Whoever holds it can claim the fees, so keep it in a wallet you control. Selling or sending it hands the fee stream to the new owner, never the liquidity itself. If you want no fees at all, the LP burner burns LP tokens instead.
| Burn & Earn lock | Burn LP tokens | |
|---|---|---|
| Liquidity withdrawable | Never | Never |
| Trading fees | Claimable with the fee-key NFT | Lost |
| What you hold after | A fee-key NFT | Nothing |
| Works for | CPMM LP, CLMM positions | Any LP token (CPMM, AMM v4) |
| Cost | 0.02 SOL + ~0.018 SOL rent | 0.045 SOL |
What it costs
A lock costs SOLTidy's flat 0.02 SOL plus about 0.018 SOL of rent for the NFT mint, its token account, its Metaplex metadata and the lock record. Raydium charges nothing to lock or claim. Locking your whole CPMM position also closes the empty LP account, which refunds about 0.0015 to 0.002 SOL.
Claims cost 0.02 SOL per transaction. A claim transaction usually has room for one locked position, so claiming several takes one wallet approval each. Wrapped SOL from a claim is unwrapped to plain SOL in the same transaction.
Raydium's lock program doesn't accept AMM v4 LP. To make legacy AMM v4 liquidity permanent, burn the LP tokens instead, or withdraw it and move it to a CPMM pool you can lock.
Questions & answers
Can I ever unlock liquidity locked with Burn & Earn?
No. The lock has no expiry and no unlock instruction. The LP tokens stay in Raydium's lock program forever; only the trading fees they earn can be claimed.
Who can claim the fees?
Whoever holds the fee-key NFT. It's minted to the wallet that locks, and it can be transferred or sold like any NFT, which moves the right to claim the fees with it.
How are the claimable fees calculated?
For CPMM, fees stay in the pool's reserves and raise the value of each LP token; the lock compares the reserves with its last update and releases the LP that represents that growth. For CLMM, the position's fees come from the fee growth recorded at its two price boundaries. SOLTidy reads the same on-chain figures and shows them before you claim.
Can I lock only part of my LP?
For CPMM LP, yes: lock any percentage and the rest stays in your wallet as ordinary LP. A CLMM position is a single NFT, so it locks whole; withdraw part of it first if you want to lock less. Each lock gets its own fee-key NFT.
Does this work for Raydium AMM v4 or CLMM pools?
CLMM, yes: a CLMM position locks whole with the same Burn & Earn program, and its fee-key NFT claims the position's fees and rewards here. AMM v4, no: Raydium's lock program doesn't accept AMM v4 LP, so burn it with the LP burner instead.
