SOLTidy vs Phantom's built-in burn

For one or two spam NFTs, Phantom's own Burn Token option is enough and costs only the network fee. For anything bigger, SOLTidy is the better fit: it finds every empty token account, closes up to 12 per transaction, withdraws spare rent, and handles stake, pump.fun rewards and dust that Phantom doesn't touch. You can use both, since SOLTidy works with the Phantom wallet you already have.

Phantom's built-in burn: The Burn Token option inside the Phantom wallet, which permanently removes an unwanted Solana collectible and returns a small SOL rebate from its token account. Facts checked November 5, 2026 from help.phantom.com.

Choose SOLTidy if…

  • You have dozens or hundreds of empty token accounts: SOLTidy finds them all and closes up to 12 per transaction.
  • You want the rent from accounts Phantom hides because their balance is zero.
  • You want spare rent, deactivated stake, pump.fun rewards and dust sales handled in the same scan.
  • You burn NFTs and want the full rent back: SOLTidy's Metaplex burn closes the token, metadata and edition accounts and shows the exact amount first.

Choose Phantom's built-in burn if…

  • You only have one or two spam collectibles and don't want to connect your wallet to any website.
  • You want to pay no service fee at all; Phantom states none for burning.
  • You're on the Phantom mobile app and want to burn an item in a few taps from the collectible's menu.

What Phantom's burn does and doesn't do

Phantom added Burn Token in 2022 to get rid of spam NFTs. You open a Solana collectible, choose Burn Token from its menu and confirm; the item is gone for good and a small SOL rebate from its token account comes back to you. Phantom's help page doesn't list a service fee.

What it doesn't cover is the bigger source of locked SOL: empty token accounts. Every token you have ever sold leaves an account holding 0.0015–0.002 SOL, and Phantom hides these because their balance is zero. Phantom's help center doesn't document a way to close them in bulk, which is the gap SOLTidy fills.

Fees in practice

Burning five spam NFTs in Phantom costs five network fees and nothing else. SOLTidy charges 5% of the rent each burn reclaims, about 0.0003–0.0005 SOL on an NFT that returns 0.006–0.01 SOL, and burns roughly five NFTs per transaction.

For a wallet with 100 older empty token accounts (0.00203928 SOL each, 0.2039 SOL in total), SOLTidy returns about 0.1937 SOL after its 5% fee, in about nine signatures. Phantom's built-in features don't offer a documented way to recover that SOL.
